Oh boy, oh boy! Today’s the day we begin our driving adventures in the UK. We had a lovely room at the Roseate Villa and had pancakes for breakfast. We headed back out for more exploring in Bath and bought a special gift of stained glass to remember our time in this lovely city.
Whilst we were in Bath, we found a craft beer shop and supported the local hops economy. Here’s a photo from the store front, decorated for Easter.
We picked up our car, a Czech Skoda model almost brand spanking new. Brian asked for a few pointers on driving and we were off - on the left side of the road. Coco took a few photos whilst Brian drove from Bath to Llanharan, home of Helen and her fiancé Colman, located west of the capital city of Cardiff in Wales.
Brian was an excellent driver and mastered round-a-bouts with ease.
The timing of our visit happened to coincide with Helen’s 40th birthday surprise party. We spent the afternoon discussing light-hearted topics like Brexit and U.S. Presidential election. In the evening, Coco and Brian got to be part of the big surprise. Colman arranged a group dinner at The Classroom or Y Dosbarth in Cardiff, a restaurant for chef trainees at a local college. Helen was very surprised and we got to see her parents, sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and meet a few of her local friends.
We raced back to Cardiff Central for a 10:30 p.m. train back to Llanharan. As we power walked, Coco and Helen remembered how many times they had to run to catch trains during their travels! It was a really wonderful night and we were so grateful to be part of surprising Helen.
